My message of progress for the 23rd ward and St. Louis is being heard. With so many challenges facing our ward and city as a whole, I’m ready to bring my passion and experience to City Hall and work toward the kind of progress that we all so desperately need and, quite frankly, deserve from our city. Together we can make a positive impact on the lives of everyone.

Proud Mary
She hasn’t gone out and endorsed Irene J. Smith over Francis Slay for mayor, but one clear voice for change emerging from the majority-white sectors of the city is Mary Homan, who is running for alderwoman in Slay’s old stomping grounds, the 23rd Ward.
In a seven-way primary, Slay Inc. has backed good old boy car washer Joseph Vaccaro..
Homan is a “good Catholic girl” with a graduate degree in theology, but she works in public health, believes in the distribution and use of condoms to prevent the spread of venereal disease, and has assisted former state Rep. Sam Page (the medical doctor who ran against and lost to incumbent Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder) in his policy initiatives.
She is a battler who, when a schoolgirl, went all the way to the pope with a letter decrying the Church’s injustice in only allowing boys to serve as, well, altar boys. She then took this innate thirst for social justice to Nerinx Hall High School, a proven breeding ground for battlers and true believers.
Homan has been knocking on doors in Slay’s old home ward, and she has been finding a surprising number of new black families who have settled there, no doubt oblivious to the race-baiting divisive politics headquartered in their new neighborhood. Anyone in the 23rd Ward who wants real change in St. Louis – less racism, nepotism and cronyism; less blanket support for Francis Slay and Jeff Rainford’s dubious ideas on the Board of Aldermen – should get to know Mary Homan and her message.
Also, anyone in the fields of medicine, health or research who want to invest in an aldermanic candidate who knows and understands their issues and will fight for them, pay attention to Mary Homan. See maryhoman.com for more information about this exciting, gutsy new candidate.
